CEO | COR Disposal & Recycling

Alando Simpson was introduced to the recycling industry almost 30 years ago when his father founded COR in 1996 when he was just 12 years old. After studying business at Oregon and PSU, Alando joined COR and has spent his entire 20+ year career in the industry, working diligently to solidify COR as a leader in building Oregon’s circular economy and climate tech innovation.

Among his many associations, he’s currently chair of the Portland Metro Chamber (formerly Portland Business Alliance), vice-president of Oregon’s National Association of Minority Contractors (NAMC), chair of the Black Business Association of Oregon (BBAO), and also served as a member of the State of Oregon’s Transportation Commission Board for eight years.

Alando has received several local honors, such as: “40 Under 40” (Portland Business Journal, 2022), and Portland Business People to Watch in 2024 (Portland Business Journal, 2023) 2021 Oregon Visionary (Oregon Business & Industry, 2021), and “Building Diversity Honoree” (Daily Journal of Commerce, 2020). Alando is highly active in his community with multiple nonprofits and works closely with orgs like the Oregon Association of Minority Entrepreneurs (OAME) and the Association of Oregon Recyclers (AOR).
