Oregon’s State Motto,

She flies with her own wings

Our Mission //

Embracing Oregon's Legacy to Propel Climate Innovation

Oregon’s state motto - “She flies with her own wings” - is deeply resonant for the planetary moment in which we find ourselves.

Indeed we have quite a height we must ascend together. Long an area of leadership in Oregon, national business and political bodies are beginning to meaningfully engage with the climate crisis that they have for so many years ignored. Public policies and private innovations are springing up to meet the enormity of this shared moment.

Unfortunately it’s all too common lately to hear people say that Oregon has ceded its leadership here. Many look at the climate tech programs in other regions that are spinning up partnerships and startups and ask “what are we missing?”

We convened this conference to answer that question firmly: “not a damn thing.” With this conference we affirm Oregon’s deep connection to the environment. It’s our goal to highlight the solutions, conversations, and leaders who are engaged in defining how climate solutions can be deployed and scaled. In doing so, the Wings Conference is revealing the future of Oregon being built right before our eyes.

Our shared future is grown from an ecosystem of communities and collaborations rooted in public-private partnerships that spark growth and distribute its benefits justly.

Oregon climate tech is optimistic, seeing environmental challenges as opportunities to rethink and relearn the old assumptions of what could be done, or how it should be accomplished. Oregon climate tech is inclusive, springing from and nurturing the entire breadth of our state’s communities. Oregon climate tech is action-oriented, biased toward implementation, focused on doing the work.

Therefore The Wings Conference is dedicated to accelerating climate innovation that enriches the lives of everyone in Oregon. The ideas and connections made at our conference will support and improve life in our state - financially, environmentally, between neighbors and colleagues, in the private spaces of our own hearts.

At The Wings Conference, Oregon comes to once again take on the mantle of leadership.

We will gather and unite Oregon’s most inspiring leaders from all communities, orient them around the most important crisis of our time, and encourage them to lean into the wind, and take flight.

What does that future look like?
